Fresh Tomatoes:
- 4 cups diced (or 1 can of crushed tomatoes)
Fresh Basil:
- 1/2 cup chopped (plus extra for garnish)
Parmesan Cheese:
- 1/2 cup grated (for serving)
Prepare the Marinara Sauce:
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
Add the diced fresh tomatoes (or crushed tomatoes) to the skillet. Stir well and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
Stir in the chopped fresh basil and season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using) to taste.
